Jason Bourne, real name David Webb, first came to our screens in 2002 with the release of the first of three movies, The Bourne Identity. Jason Bourne is found by fishermen at sea, with two bullet holes in his back and an even bigger hole in his memory.

He has a severe case of amnesia and can't remember who he is or where he came from.

He might not know who he is, but Bourne has the ability to speak multiple languages fluently and has extraordinary self defence and fighting skills.

He has a device with the number of a Swiss Bank Account embedded in his hip, which enables him to access a bank vault in Zurich. Whilst here, he finds out that his name is Jason Bourne, but also discovers numerous foreign passports (all with his picture on), a hefty amount of cash and a handgun.

Meanwhile, at the CIA headquarters in Langley, there's news of a failed assassination mission on an African dictator Nykwana Wombosi. Bourne is unaware that he is a trained assassin based in Paris as part of Operation Treadstone.

The US defence officials have been told that Operation Treadstone is an advanced army training programme, but are unaware that it is actually a mafia-style mission to eradicate “dangerous” people from society. With news of Bourne's survival reaching his employers, he becomes a target of assassination out of fear that he could reveal what Operation Treadstone really is.

At the US Embassy, Jason Bourne meets Marie Kreutz (Franka Potente) who agrees to take him to Paris in exchange for a lot of cash. Marie quickly becomes his love interest and a companion on his journey of self-discovery and attempts to steer clear of almost certain death.

The Bourne Identity was followed by a thrilling sequel, entitled The Bourne Supremacy (2004). Two years after meeting Marie, the couple are living in Goa, India, after managing to escape the relentless pursuits of assassins.

Jason Bourne is managing to remember small bit of his life and keeps having disturbing flash backs of an assassination he carried out in a hotel in Berlin. When the CIA catches up with Bourne and his girlfriend in Goa, their seemingly idyllic new life is quickly ruined.
The gun shot that was meant to assassinate Bourne ends up tragically killing Marie and their 4x4 plummets into a river. Bourne is unaware that he has been framed for a murder he didn't commit and heads to Italy for answers.

A copy of Bourne's fingerprint was planted on a bomb by a Russian Assassin name Kirill (Karl Urban) who is a rival of the CIA and the same man responsible for Marie's death.

Framed for the murder of two men who were under the surveillance of the CIA, Bourne must use his own assassin skills from his haunting past to keep himself alive.

Bourne must try to figure out what connects him to the Russian reformist politician called Neski, who has been dead for a while. His paths cross with an old colleague, Ward Abbot (Brian Cox) and Agent Pamela Landy (Joan Allen) and Bourne is given a harsh reminder of the man he once was.
