Family Guy revolves around a fictional, cartoon family, the Griffins, and their neighbourhood friends. Each series takes us on a new series of crazy and madcap adventures, which often make fun of American family and social values.

In each series we get to know about Peter, Louis, Meg, Chris and Stewie Griffin, and their talking pet dog, Brian.

We also meet their friends, the sex-mad pilot Glenn Quagmire, mild-mannered deli owner Cleveland Brown, paraplegic police officer Joe Swanson, and their families.

There are also regular appearances from Mayor Adam West, TV anchors, Tom Tucker and Diane Simmons, and creepy old ephebophile, Herbert.

Most of the episodes revolve around the irritating yet hilarious character, Peter Griffin, who is often likened to Homer Simpson due to his bumbling but well-intentioned antics.

Louis Griffin is from a better 'class' than Peter, and plays the part of a domestic house wife and piano teacher. Their eldest child, Meg, is an un-popular student, and is often at the butt of her father's jokes.

Their eldest son, Chris, voiced by actor Seth Green, is a younger version of his overweight and unintelligent father. And, the youngest character, Stewie, is one of TV's best loved characters, and is known for his upper-class English accent, arch-villain phrases, and ambiguous sexual orientation.

The other Griffin family member is their anthropomorphized dog, Brian, who walks on two legs, smokes cigars, engages in intellectual conversations, and has relationships with both dogs and humans... all in all, Family Guy offers and insight into the world's most interesting family!

Each episode is held together by a mix of quick, crisp writing, hilarious visual gags, surreal flashbacks, comical music numbers and strong characterisation of the individual characters.

The running theme of each episode and season is Peter's attempts at doing what is best for the family, the result usually being fantastical and apocalypse-esque mistakes which will leave you in stitches!
