The first film Dr. No was released in 1962 and featured Sean Connery as Bond. An accurate casting due to Bond's Scottish roots in the novels.

In Dr. No Bond must solve an unexplained murder, and the evidence leads him to a small Island in Jamaica. Here he finds a Chinese Doctor who has plans to disturb American Rocket Launches who also has links to terrorist organisation SPECTRE (Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion).

The second film again sees Connery take on the role. From Russia with Love (1963) sees Bond take on Tatiana Romanova (played by Daniela Bianchi), a Russian assassin working for SPECTRE to avenge the death of Dr. No.

In the third film, Goldfinger (1964) we see Bond (Connery) some up against Auric Goldfinger, a millionaire who intends to destroy America's gold supply at Fort Knox.

Thunderball (1965) Bond (Connery) must once more work against SPECTRE. This time they've hijacked the contents of a NATO bomber which has crashed in the Caribbean. Notably two atomic bombs. Bond has seven days to retrieve them or a city in the UK or USA gets destroyed.

You Only Live Twice again features Sean Connery as Bond. MI6 fake Bond's death after his triumphs over SPECTRE make him a marked man.

However, there are mysterious happenings outside if Earth's atmosphere and it seems a war between Russia and America could be imminent. But who is causing it?

On her Majesty's Secret Service is the first Bond film not to feature Sean Connery in the role. George Laznby plays Bond in the 1969 adaptation.

Bond is taken off the Blofield case and thinks he has resigned, but Moneypenny changes his resignation to a request for leave. Bond seeks out Blofield alone and learns of his terrorist plans.

Diamonds are Forever (1971) sees Sean Connery reprise the role for the last time. Bond investigates some diamonds that are being smuggled. But his investigations lead him to SPECTRE and a plot to obliterate weapons via laser beam.

Live and Let Die (1973) is Roger Moore's first film as Bond. Bond opposes heroin smugglers in New Orleans and Jamaica.

The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) Bond (Moore) receives a warning in the form of a golden bullet with 007 engraved into it. It appears to have been sent by Scaramanga, an assassin hired to kill Bond.

The Spy who loved me (1977) Bond (Moore) must seek out two missing Russian nuclear submarines, with the help of a beautiful Russian agent.

Moonraker (1979) sees Bond (Moor) trying to solve a case involving the hijacking of a space-shuttle.
For Your Eyes Only (1981) Bond must solve the murder of an MI6 Marine Archaeologist

Octopussy (1983) Bond (Moore) teams up with Octopussy (who owes him a favour) against Khan who is involved with the murder of agent 009, the forgery of a Faberge egg and a nuclear plot.

A View to Kill (1985) is Moore's final film in the role. Bond uncovers a plot to wreak havoc in Silicone Valley.

The Living Daylights (1987) sees Timothy Dalton take on the role of Bond. Bond works with a civilian who was hired to impersonate a spy.

Together they uncover a weapon smuggling operation.

License to Kill (1989) Bond seeks revenge for his friend's murder by resigning from MI6 and going it alone.

Golden Eye (1995) sees Pierce Brosnan take on the role of Bond. Bond must stop a plan to use the Goldeneye Satellite weapon against London.

Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) Bond investigates a media magnate Elliot Carver who is attempting to use broadcasting issues in China to start a world war.

The World is Not Enough (1999) Bond must solve a mysterious assassination, followed by the assassin's suicide.

Die Another Day (2002) Bond is imprisoned by North Koreans after killing Colonel Moon. He loses his “00” and goes it alone to find out who betrayed him.

Casino Royale (2006) sees Daniel Craig step into the role. Bond uses Texas Hold 'em Poker against a terrorist financier.

Quantum of Solace (2008) Bond goes against the Quantum organisation that backed Le Chiffre in Casino Royale and tries to avenge the death of Vesper.
