Charmed Season One to Eight is an American TV series about a group of sisters who are not only good witches, but the “charmed” ones, they come from a long line of powerful witches and as a result have heightened powers, but are also at heightened risk.

The sisters are played by Holly Marie Combs (Piper Halliwell), Alyssa Milano (Phoebe Halliwell), Rose McGowan (Paige Matthews) and Shannen Doherty (Prue Halliwell).

The sisters rely on their advantageous “power of three” to help them fight against demons and warlocks. For the first three seasons the sisters involved are Prue, Piper and Phoebe, however at the end of series 3 Prue's existence is left uncertain.

At the beginning of the 4th series we find that Prue has indeed passed on, and that the power of three is no more.

This is when Paige is introduced; long lost sister to the other girls, she joins the family and reunites the charmed ones' power-of-three. Paige is half witch, half white lighter.

As well as battling demons the sisters must confront the usual difficulties of life including love, relationships, friendship, marriage, childbirth, work and family disagreements.

Supporting characters include:
Leo, Piper's love interest, later her husband and white lighter / protector to the sisters. Leo's promotion to Elder makes family life difficult with the arrival of Piper and Leo's son Chris.

Cole, Phoebe's love interest and half-demon Cole's role changes throughout the series' being everything from Phoebe's husband to the powerful evil force “the source”

Chris, Leo and Piper's son who travels back from the future, his identity is unknown to the sisters for the majority of his time on the show.

The series originally aired from 1998 – 2005 for eight seasons.
