The Batman DVD or Blu-Ray box set first came into being in May 1939, after appearing in DC comics' Detective comics #27. Created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, Batman is the alter ego of Bruce Wayne, a millionaire playboy who hones himself to physical and intellectual perfection after witnessing the death of his parents.

He must also save Seline, Max's secretary who has been transformed into the beautiful Catwoman.

The third film (Batman Forever 1995) starred Val Kilmer in the title role. In this film Batman and new sidekick Robin clash with Two-face, a former district attorney who mistakenly believes that Batman caused his disfigurement.

Assisted by the Riddler, Two-face wreaks havoc on Gotham and perfect the Riddler's plan to drain Gotham's resident's of information. Including jeopardising Bruce Wayne's knowledge of his superhero identity.

The fourth film (Batman and Robin 1997) sees George Clooney take on the iconic role. Batman must defeat Mr Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Poison Ivy and Bane, as well as finding a cure for a mysterious disease.

Assisted by Robin and Batgirl, it is a race against time to save Alfred.
The fifth film (Batman Begins 2005) sees a newly cast Christian Bale take on the role of Batman.

Set before the previous 4 films Batman Begins DVD or Blu-Ray box set finds Bruce Wayne becoming the hero after the murder of his parents. Batman is opposed by hallucinogenic gases in the water supply as well as mob bosses and the Scarecrow.

The sixth film (Dark Knight 2008) is the final instalment to the series. Sequel to Batman Begins, Christian Bale as Batman must fight alongside district attorney Harvey Dent (love rival) and Lt Gordon to bring down the mob bosses running the city.

However, Batman's task becomes much more difficult with the introduction of the Joker (Heath Ledger).

The villains too come with transportation devices. Fan films have been made using Lego and stop frame animation, making Lego a significant factor in the Batman Story.
